About the Foundation ...

Foundation Organisation

The Howard Foundation Group of Companies is based upon intellectual property owned by the Howard Foundation and is managed by Howard Foundation Holdings Limited, a UK company.

Until September 2005, the Group owned Cambridge Manufacturing Company Limited, which manufactures and distributes "The Cambridge Diet" throughout the UK and worldwide through a chain of international companies.

The Foundation currently holds patents in the fields of red wine polyphenols, creatine compounds and products and equipment that can protect against age-related macular degeneration and promote eye health. Licences have been granted across the world in respect of these nutriceuticals.

Recent and Future Activities

  • Support for the Howard Foundation Chair of Human Nutrition at the University of Ulster.
  • In association with Teeside University, a series of evidence-based trials of weight management programmes in the primary care environment.
  • Funds for clinical trials involving red wine polyphenols at the University of Ulster and Poznan University, Poland.
  • Funds for the International University of Florida for a clinical trial involving prevention of aged related macular degeneration through nutritional supplementation of macular carotenoids.
  • Purchase of scientific equipment and funds for research on creatine for the University college, Chichester.
  • Donation of scientific equipment for laboratories and funds in support of a new Chair of Medical Sciences at Poznan University, Poland.
  • Toxicology and efficiacy trials in respect of the ocular nutriceutical Mesozeaxanthin through private laboratories in United States and the Waterford Group in Eire.
  • Clinical Trials into carotenoids conducted by Waterford Institute of Technology.
  • Grants to Gordon Conferences.
